Director Poultry Technology Application

JOB PROFILE: The Director Poultry Technology Application will lead poultry training and technology application for Trouw Nutrition North America. The incumbent will interact with and support regional technical and business leaders, Technical Committee and Poultry Council to deliver our value proposition in both quantitative and functional nutrition. The Director of Poultry Technology Application will also liaise with counterparts in global R&D, Marketing and Quality Assurance and Spectroscopy and contribute to the innovation process.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Understand the Canadian poultry sector and value chain and built relationships with key stakeholders;
• Work with regional commercial and technical leaders to build and execute technology application plans;
• Lead the technical development of our NutriOpt value proposition by translating quantitative nutrition research findings into feeding programs and services for our customers;
• Liase with the R&D Manager, QC/NIR Manager and NutriOpt team to define technologies that will bring unique value to the poultry sector;
• Work closely with the Livestock Portfolio Manager and Feed Additive sales Manager to build and deliver feed additive programs to support superior on-farm performance and reduce reliance on antibiotics;
• Work with regional nutritionists and R&D to define and implement best practices in each poultry species;
• Manage on-farm performance benchmarking to ensure that Compivol and related tools are used to objectively measure the benefits of our technology nationally;
• Supervise the Poultry Technology Application Manager responsible for the Poultry Learner Program (PLP) programs, e-learning  and on-farm benchmarking;
• Participate in the Poultry Technical Committee and Poultry Council;
• Provide support to the Stage Gate innovation process;
• Provide second line technical support to our national dealer network as part of the NutriOpt program;

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

• A PhD degree or equivalent in the area of poultry, animal, or related life sciences;
• Excellent understanding of practical poultry nutrition, production, microbiology and the overall value chain;
• Strong commercial acumen;
• Significant knowledge of procurement, feed formulation and feed manufacturing;
• Ability to work with people in team environments, often serving as team leader without having direct managerial control;
• Ability to speak French is an asset, but not mandatory.
